Mercury  

Mercury, mythologically the messenger Hermes, represents our style of communication, learning, thinking, and problem solving. By sign and house, it also suggests how we process and interpret information, how we are curious and open to learning, and how we frame our concepts and "mind maps" for reality. It gives us the ability to observe, to reason, to use intellect, to perceive, and to communicate. It is probably placed in our charts in the region that needs the most articulation. It suggests how we "tell our story".

Mercury, when we allow its energy to run unharnessed, can show up as nervousness, inconsistency, scattered thought processes that result in little accomplishment, too much idle chattering, poor listening skills, and a lack of focus. A well-functioning Mercury engenders the ability to articulate and communicate clearly, to process information capably, to gather data from a variety of sources, and to formulate paradigms of thought.
