"Happiness: a good bank account, a good cook, and a good digestion."
- Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Taurus, ruled by Venus and associated with the second house, represents fixed
earth energy that reflects the qualities of loyalty, stability, reliability, and
practicality. The evolutionary goal of Taurus is to develop inner peace,
serenity, calmness, gentleness, simplicity, material and psychological
security, and a resonance with the five senses. Some Taurean attuned
people are builders, taking raw material and creating structures or
works of art as a way of creating security; some are banker types who
create financial security; some are massage therapists and physical
trainers, who help others attain harmony within their physical bodies.
Taurus can have a tremendous capacity to bring a sense of calmness to
others, and often taps into this through being in nature and reveling
in the pleasures of the physical body. Taurus understands
the wisdom of simplicity and appreciates environments that are
comfortable, secure, and calm. The development of a set
of personal values that provides a secure base of self-esteem
is critical to the Taurean evolutionary path.
Taurus can get too stuck in her security base, in her possessions, or in
her values. Taurus likes her comfort zone, and can be overly resistant
to change or too lazy to create what she really wants for security. The
inertia of the Mountain can lead to a path of boredom, stagnation,
lethargy, stubborn resistance to change, or a fixed value system that
may be limited by material consciousness or fixed opinions. Taurus expresses herself
with simplicity and practicality. When
she has established psychological and physical security for herself through effective
resource management and a solid sense of inner peace and self-esteem,
she then quietly emanates calmness and serenity to others. She can be a
tremendously loyal and stable force in the lives of others.
