The Seventh House, traditionally called The House of Marriage and
associated with Libra, describes our mating style, our relationship
criteria, and our skill for navigating long-term relationship. We
learn here how to establish harmonious, cooperative, and peaceful
relationships with friends, and sometimes, our enemies. This house
contains our early associations and models for love and marriage.
Because of the issues of intimacy contained here, it may also represent
our "projections", or those parts of ourselves we are not ready to
integrate until someone else calls them forth by embodying them.
The sign on the cusp of the seventh house is called the Descendant,
the opposite point from the Ascendant. While the Ascendant
describes our individual persona, the Descendant describes how we
function in an intimate context. Poor navigation of this territory
results in an inability to form harmonious and balanced relationships, or results in
fears around intimacy. Successful navigation engenders relationships
that foster equality, harmony, genuine intimacy, and love.
