Saturn in VirgoPosted 08/06/2007Saturn has been visiting Leo territory since July 16, 2005 to bring its lessons of greater responsibility to fixed signs. Once Saturn enters Virgo on September 2, 2007, the mutable signs of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius will feel the pull to deepen, define and restructure that which Saturn touches by transit. Saturn does have a bad reputation in some circles as a restrictive and gloomy force. And, no doubt, Leos have been dramatic in complaining that Saturn doesn’t like them. However, it is important to remember that Saturn’s mission is not to bring us displeasure, but rather, to bring discipline where it is needed in order that we access our very best. Where we have been lax, Saturn teaches us diligence. If we cooperate with Saturn, the rewards are satisfying because growth that we have earned is achieved and ours to own. Virgo probably won’t mind that at all. It likes getting jobs done.
The Virgo impulse is to purify and to perfect. It is aligned with skill development and with delivering service in a way that improves the world. Because Virgo has a strong focus on service, it can fall into extremes and become too much of a martyr. Because Virgo has a focus on improvement, it can become overly critical when it sees so much that needs to be improved. As Saturn passes through Virgo by transit, those who need to define what their very best service is will be drawn toward improvement of their skills. Those who fall into a hypercritical mode will learn to soften their edge into more compassion for those endless flaws. After all, Virgo wants to fix whatever needs fixing. And, Saturn in Virgo won’t let us get away with shortcuts on the details. And, it will insist on honesty and appropriate humility.
Because Virgo is also aligned with health concerns and holistic medicine, interest in health concerns and alternative healing methods will likely increase. Organic and natural foods will increase in popularity. More attention will be given to stress management and its impact on health. Environmental concerns will become more prominent. Are there states that do not recycle enough? Do we not conserve enough energy? Certainly these topics are not new, but more focus will be on them.
A great encapsulation of Saturn in Virgo for us to remember was spoken by Bruce Jenner, American athlete, author, and speaker. He was born on October 28, 1948 with Saturn in Virgo. He stated, “I learned that the only way you are going to get anywhere in life is to work hard at it. Whether you're a musician, a writer, an athlete or a businessman, there is no getting around it. If you do, you'll win. If you don't you won't.” Simple but profound. And certainly Saturn’s message. |
