The Tenth House, associated with Capricorn, is the terrain in which
we define success, our public image, our social status and our career.
We define our standards of professional competence here, and then
build a public reputation by meeting them. Because the public expression
of our integrity rests here, we are sensitive to recognition and approval
in this territory. This house is very much about our practical professional
accomplishment, or what we want to be when we grow up.
If we handle this terrain successfully, we achieve a personally
satisfying status or career and have a sense of fulfilling our destiny.
If we do not handle it so well, we can become entrapped in a meaningless career or an unsatisfying public image.
Or, we could become overly obsessed with
status, public image, and appearances. We must make the best use of our
inherent gifts here to claim achievement for ourselves. The cusp of the
Tenth House is known as the Midheaven, the highest pinnacle of the
chart. One story suggests that if we engage a public persona or career
that embodies the qualities of the sign on the Midheaven, we draw
success to ourselves.
