August begins under dynamic Aries Moon, but yesterday's Mars/Saturn conjunction may feels as though it's hard to get out of the starting gate. Think about your goals for the month. Progress can be made, but cosmic lineups may require us to tread carefully, to work hard, and to play by the rules. Be ready to navigate tension and conflict skillfully.

A brief preview of coming attractions shows that on August 3 and 4, Jupiter, Mars, and Pluto serve up challenges to test our mettle. On August 7 and 8, Venus conjuncts Saturn and will opposing Uranus. Relationships will be under stress. On August 16 Jupiter opposes Saturn. Mercury goes retrograde on August 20. Saturn forms another exact opposition to Pluto on August 21. A Full Moon arrives on August 24 in Pisces/Virgo.

Monday, August 2

The Moon enters Taurus at 4:13 AM EDT to bring some emotional steadiness and serenity to an otherwise increasingly chaotic atmosphere. Mars parallels Uranus (10:08 PM EDT) to bring volatility to the atmosphere. Watch tempers and avoid fast, impulsive moves.

Venus' parallel to Saturn (12:04 AM EDT tomorrow) brings a heaviness around obligations to others as well as a lack of warmth and understanding. Practice kindness.

Asteroid Juno enters Leo today. While Juno is in Leo, the quality of partnerships improves when we offer our admiration and praise. Add some excitement and be generous with loved ones. You won't be sorry. Where there are connections in which the power has been out of balance, anyone who has been experiencing a lack of appropriately balanced authority is likely to move toward claiming his or her appropriate place.

Taurus Moon squares Leo Sun (12:59 AM EDT) to mark the Last Quarter Moon phase. Desires may conflict with a practical or sensible approach. Faith and optimism may get further tested as Jupiter squares Pluto, exact at 4:00 AM EDT. Mars is also squaring Pluto wile opposing Jupiter. This T square configuration suggests that tension will be very high. Egotistical or overambitious approaches get nixed. Dogmatic points of view will not be appreciated, perhaps not tolerated. Too much aggressiveness will meet with resistance.

Work hard at staying level headed and rational. Compromise and stay in control, although the impulse may be to forge ahead. Avoid stubbornness. Be resilient.

Unsettled forces via square aspects continue to challenge us. Mars squares Jupiter (12:20 AM EDT) and
Pluto at 12:58 AM EDT. Restlessness, impatience, and overassertion will trip up some folks. It may be necessary to negotiate or to compromise, even when the inclination is to forge ahead. Use tact and diplomacy. Doing so, however, may be especially difficult because of today's Venus - Neptune quincunx, exact at 6:57 PM EDT. We may misread others or be subject to disappointment.

Taurus Moon is void-of-course from 8:44 AM EDT until 12:54 PM EDT when the Moon enters Gemini. Gemini Moon can help with the articulation of feelings. Talk with trusted others or write to clarify your intentions and your perspectives.

Venus enters Libra at 11:47 PM EDT. Venus is at home in Libra. New relationships will be supported. We will want to beautify our surroundings and to improve our appearance. Creativity can take off. Socializing is a must. Do note, however, that Venus quincunxes Chiron today and opposes Uranus tomorrow. Thus, there is some instability in the air.

Mars' contraparallel to Saturn says that authority will loom large and put restrictions in place. This is not a time to circumvent rules or to take shortcuts. Demands may seem daunting. Maintain flexibility and patiently stay the course.

Uranus dominates the scene today as it opposes Venus and quincunxes the Sun. Expect some instability, disruption, and rebel forces.

It is time for change in the relationship arena. Not only is Saturn transiting Libra to insist on integrity in relationships, but today's Venus/Uranus opposition lets us know if there is need to break up patterns that have become routine and boring. It is time to add some new zest and excitement to existing relationships. Some will need more freedom. Tomorrow as Saturn and Venus come together, we may have more clarity about what our relationships need in order to move forward.

Also, tomorrow asteroid Ceres will station retrograde in Sagittarius.
